A police investigation has found wrongdoing by officers in the harassment of Bangladesh Test cricketer Nayeem Hasan.
The probe report was submitted on Sunday to Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Hasan Mohammad Shawkat Ali.
Speaking to bdnews24.com, the commissioner said the committee had identified those responsible and recommended action against several additional police members beyond those initially disciplined.
He added that the committee had also made a number of other recommendations.
The incident occurred on the night of Jun 12, when law enforcer stopped an autorickshaw carrying Nayeem at Lalkhan Bazar and took him to Khulshi Police Station.
Allegations later emerged that he was assaulted there.
Nayeem had arrived in Chattogram by air after playing a Dhaka Premier Division match.
Police detained him while he was travelling from the airport to his home at Chandgaon.
Officers reportedly later received calls from Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials, and he was later released after family members and senior police officers went to the station.
The following day, Commissioner Shawkat visited Nayeem's home at Bahaddarhat's Faridar Para area to apologise.
Police subsequently suspended Khulshi Police sub-inspector Shafiqul Islam and constable Mohammad Russell Chowdhury, while station chief Arif Hossain was withdrawn.
The commissioner formed a probe committee headed by CMP Deputy Commissioner (West) Alamgir Hossain.
The report, originally due on Jun 18, was delayed after the committee received four additional working days.
Nayeem's brother Kamrul Alam later filed a case against two police members and an alleged police source known only as Sohel.
