The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) School of Business (USB) has organised a discussion forum aimed at strengthening links between academia, alumni and industry.
Titled “Linking Minds: Academia, Alumni, and Industry”, the event was held on Feb 28 at the ULAB campus, bringing together alumni, students and faculty members to discuss aligning academic programmes with evolving global job market demands.
The session opened with a keynote address by Vice Chancellor Prof Shamsad Mortuza, who stressed the importance of innovation, adaptability and stronger industry engagement in higher education.
Dean of the School of Business Prof Sarwar Uddin Ahmed said curricula must evolve continuously to maintain global competitiveness.
The discussion, moderated by Arzoo Ismail, senior lecturer at USB, included 20 alumni and students along with six faculty members.
Participants discussed updating curricula to include artificial intelligence and more hands-on projects, while sharing practical insights from industry experience.
The 100-minute session also focused on expanding mentorship opportunities, enhancing internship programmes and fostering closer collaboration between academia and industry, organisers said.
