A video of the incident showed the Jatiya Party MP making school headmaster Shyamal Kanti Bhakta do sit-ups holding his ears, but police in a report to the High Court say that Salim is ‘only a victim of circumstances’.
The investigator has told the court that he could not start legal measure against anyone because no allegation had been brought against anyone related to the incident.
Salim has faced intense public outrage after the video went viral on the social media.

Teachers and lawyers demanded an apology from Salim, a member Narayanganj’s influential Osman family. Ministers and MPs have also slated him in Parliament.
The allegation against Bhakta was blasphemy, but the government found it untrue.
The MP from Jatiya Party, the main opposition in Parliament, said the protests were result of “nothing but publication of misleading news that disgraced him in society”.
The High Court in a rule asked why legal measures should not be taken against Salim and others who had publicly humiliated the teacher.
The court also asked the local authorities in the district to submit a report on what lawful measures have been taken.

The DC filed the report again on June 8 while the police officials sought 60 more days.
The court then ordered the police officials to submit the investigation report of the general diary filed over the incident on Aug 4.
