Bangladesh and Malaysia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance cooperation in the field of culture.
In addition, the two countries have exchanged two bilateral notes on cooperation in research and capacity building in counter-terrorism and investment.
Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim held a one-on-one meeting in Malaysia’s Putrajaya on Monday before joining a bilateral meeting alongside delegations from their respective countries.
The talks were followed by the signing ceremony.
Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman and Malaysian Foreign Minister Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan signed the exchange of notes on behalf of their respective countries.
Prime Minister Tarique and his wife Zubaida Rahman were warmly welcomed by Anwar and his wife Wan Azizah Wan Ismail when they arrived at the Malaysian prime minister's office “Perdana Putra” in the morning.
After the reception, the two leaders first met for a one-on-one discussion before joining the broader discussion.
Following the talks, the two premiers held a joint press conference and discussed advancing cooperation in various fields including trade, employment, and energy security.
