Suspected cases of measles have claimed three more children in Bangladesh in a single day, while 132 people tested positive for the disease in the 24 hours.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its regular bulletin on Friday that 92 people have died of confirmed cases of the highly-infectious disease since Mar 15, while 550 have died after showing symptoms consistent with the disease.

The Dhaka Division has recorded the highest death toll at 232, followed by Rajshahi with 86.

In the past 24 hours, 1,110 people came to hospital with measles-like symptoms, of whom 1,057 have been admitted.

The capital saw the highest admissions at 426, Rangpur the lowest at 15.

The latest figures bring the total number of suspected cases in the country to 83,139, while the number of confirmed measles patients has reached 10,059.
