Students will return to school on Saturday after a High Court order barred schools from holding classes on Thursday amid the intense heat.
As a result, secondary schools will reopen after a long holiday on May 4.
Following the Eid holidays, the government extended the break to Apr 27 due to a persistent heatwave.
The Ministry of Education announced that secondary schools would commence classes from Saturday, May 4.
On Thursday, the ministry reiterated that classes will be held on Saturday.
The decision to hold classes on the weekend has drawn criticism, particularly from a section of teachers who have come forward to demand classes on Saturday be scrapped.
Regarding the decision, Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury told the media on Tuesday that the government could decide to hold classes on Friday as well if it is necessary to fix the learning deficit.
