Home Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said there is no tension along the India-Bangladesh border, describing the situation as relatively stable.
“There is no tension at the border now. The situation is relatively normal. They (India) are not constructing any more barbed wire fences. We can say it is quite stable," he told reporters after a meeting with law-enforcing and agriculture department officials of the Mymensingh Division at the Shahab Uddin Auditorium on Tuesday.
The advisor added that a meeting between the director generals of Border Guard Bangladesh, or BGB, and India's Border Security Force, or BSF, is scheduled for next month to discuss restoring peace.
"There have been some unequal agreements, and we will discuss how to address these issues in that meeting. A letter will also be sent from the ministry before the meeting to address the problematic agreements," he said.
On the domestic front, Jahangir said there is no fertiliser shortage in the country.
He warned, "If anyone tries to create an artificial shortage of fertiliser, action will be taken against them. Any dealer involved in such activities will lose their dealership from next month.
“No leniency will be shown. Farmers are the lifeblood of the country, and they will definitely get fertiliser at a fair price," he said.
