Police and locals said Pasha’s house at the Upazila’s Rahmatpur Union was attacked at noon during the clashes when his son Iqbal Pasha Javed, 35, was shot.
Activists of the rival parties had been warring in bouts since Saturday night after a Juba League activist was stabbed, said Sandwip Police Station OC Gias Uddin.
He said Javed received bullet injuries during the clashes on Sunday.
Kamal Pasha said he was home at the time. Javed was taken to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital, he said.
Speaking to bdnews24.com, the Chittagong-16 lawmaker alleged that the ruling party activists had first attacked his house in the morning and set a haystack in the yard on fire. Then they attacked again at noon.
Upazila BNP General Secretary Belayet Hossain claimed that locals had chased away Awami League supporters in the morning, but they returned at noon with hired assailants.
He claimed that Iqbal was shot in the chest when the attackers were shooting at Kamal Pasha’s house.
Local journalists said at least four people from both groups were injured during the skirmishes.
OC Gias Uddin said the situation there was normal at the time. But police were yet to make any arrest regarding the incident.
