Dhaka, Jan 23 (bdnews24.com)—Famed Bangladeshi movie and popular television comedy actor Amol Bose passed away on Monday at the age of 75.
His son-in-law Indrajit Sarkar told bdnews24.com that the actor suffered a stroke in the morning and was taken to Dhaka's Apollo Hospitals. The doctors declared him dead around 12pm.
For his spectacular performances in films and dramas, Bose was held with huge respect and popularity by the public. He was equally familiar to small screen viewers. He began his career as a jatra artist but contributed to jatra, theatre, cinema and TV plays both as actor and director.
His sterling performances in movies like Abichar, Hothat Brishti, Ami Shei Meye, Tomakey Chai, Mon Maney Na won him rave reviews. He was honoured with a National Award for his work in the movie Ajker Protibad.
His distinctive acting as 'Mahishashur' in the Durga Puja special TV plays has been etched into the memory of the viewers. His parody, Nana-Nati, in the TV show Ityadi was hugely popular.
Bose directed theatre troupes Aboshor, Shaptarupa, Shaibal and Rangdhanu Natya Goshthhi and the plays he directed such as Siraj ud Dowla and Rupban won critical acclaims at home and abroad.
He also mentored renowned movie actors Anwara, Rozina, Rajib, Probir Mitra, Dildar and Sadeq Bachchu.
