The government is considering allowing one candidate, who missed her Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exam because she was taking her mother to the hospital, to still take the test.
Education Advisor Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar said that the student's case is being “taken into consideration on humanitarian grounds”.
The information was provided in a post on the Facebook page of Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus's Office on Friday.
This year's HSC and equivalent examinations began on Thursday. The Bangla First Paper exam was on the first day.
That day, a student was late in reaching the Government Mirpur Bangla College centre in the capital after taking her sick mother to the hospital. Because of this, she could not take the first day's exam.
The incident was reported in the media. The news, including a picture of the girl breaking down in tears, has also spread on social media.
The post by the Chief Advisor’s Office said that the incident had come to the attention of the authorities.
In this regard, Education Advisor CR Abrar said, "The issue of the student is being viewed seriously from a humanitarian perspective. We are trying to resolve the issue of her taking the exam according to the laws and regulations governing public examinations. We sympathise with her in this difficult time."
