The mourning continues at the home of Dipu Chandra Das, who was killed in an attack following allegations of blasphemy in Mymensingh’s Bhaluka Upazila.
Many agencies and organisations have been visiting the family daily to check on them, offering financial aid and several assurances.
Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner (DC) Saifur Rahman visited Dipu’s home on behalf of the district administration on Monday.
He provided cash and food assistance and promised a job for Dipu’s wife during the visit.
The family remains devastated by the grief of losing a husband and son.
The loss of their sole breadwinner has cast the family into a sudden, destitute grief.
Accompanied by Tarakanda Upazila administrator (UNO) Aminul Islam and other district and Upazila administration officials, DC Saifur met with the family to offer condolences.
He handed over Tk 25,000, winter clothing, dry food, and a sewing machine to the bereaved family on behalf of the administration.
Saifur said, "I have assured them that we will always stand by them with any necessary support."
Meanwhile, constant security has been ensured at the house to protect Dipu’s family since the incident.
On Thursday night, 28-year-old Dipu, a worker at Pioneer Knitwears BD Limited in Bhaluka’s Jamirdia, was beaten to death over allegations of making incendiary remarks about religion.
His body was subsequently tied to a tree branch and set on fire.
He was the son of Robi Chandra Das from Tarakanda. He had been working at the company for two years.
In connection with the incident, the victim’s younger brother, Apu Das, filed a case with Bhaluka Police on Dec 19 against 150 unidentified individuals.
Law-enforcing agencies have arrested 12 suspects in connection with the murder.
