A total of 438 people have died in road accidents in June, according to data from the Road Safety Foundation, a private organisation.
The highest number of accidents occurred in the Dhaka Division, the organisation said in its monthly accident report released on Sunday.
The Road Safety Foundation said 472 road accidents took place in the past month, killing 428 people and injuring 561 others.
Among the dead were 328 men, 44 women and 56 children.
The report was compiled based on data from nine national dailies, 17 national and regional online news portals, various electronic media, and the organisation's own information.
Dhaka Division recorded the highest number of accidents, at 116, killing 118 people, while Mymensingh Division recorded the lowest, at 19 accidents killing 16 people.
In the capital alone, 32 accidents left 24 people dead and 49 injured.
Motorcycle accidents accounted for 145 crashes that killed 134 people, or 30.59 per cent of total deaths, the organisation said.
Pedestrians accounted for 91 deaths, or 20.77 percent of the total, in these accidents. Vehicle drivers and helpers made up 57 deaths, or 13 percent.
During this period, nine waterway accidents killed seven people and injured four, while 21 rail accidents killed 18 people and injured seven.
The Road Safety Foundation's observations and analysis show that of the accidents, 151 (32 percent) occurred on national highways, 194 (41.10 percent) on regional roads, 64 (13.55 percent) on rural roads, 57 (12.07 percent) on city roads, and six (1.27 percent) in other locations.
Among vehicles involved in accidents, trucks, covered vans, pickups, tractors, trolleys, lorries and drum trucks accounted for 25.66 percent, passenger buses 16.26 percent, microbuses, private cars and ambulances 4.62 percent, motorcycles 22 percent, three-wheelers (easy bikes, CNG-run auto-rickshaws, auto-vans, Mishuks) 19.77 percent, locally made vehicles (Nosimon, Votvoti, Tomtom, Mahindra) 5.59 percent, rickshaws and bicycles 1.54 percent, and unidentified vehicles 4.20 percent.
Divisional statistics show the Dhaka Division recorded the highest share of accidents at 24.57 percent.
Rajshahi Division followed with 18.43 percent, Chattogram Division with 23.72 percent, Khulna Division with 8.68 percent, Barishal Division with 5.93 percent, Sylhet Division with 4.44 percent, Rangpur Division with 10.16 percent, and Mymensingh Division with 4.02 percent.
