Natore, Dec 1 (bdnews24.com) – A Natore court has sent seven people, accused in Baraigram Upazila chairman Sanaullah Nur Babu murder case, to jail after they surrendered to the court.
The accused were identified as Mohammad Rezaul Karim alias Rikon, 25; Hashem Mridha, 34; Gautam Ghosh, 22; Abdul Malek, 28; 'Habib', 24' Bablu Molla, 24' and 'Babu', 25.
Baraigram's senior judicial magistrate Mahmudul Hasan passed the order on Wednesday as the accused appeared before him with separate bail appeals.
All of the accused are the activists of Juba League, an Awami League student's wing. They hail from Mohishdanga village, Natore.
Advocate Mizanur Rahman and Arif Sarker, the defence lawyers, argued that the accused were wrongly implicated in the case on political purposes.
Babu, also the BNP president of the Baraigram Upazila unit, was beaten to death by miscreants at Bonpara on October 8.
Babu's wife Mohua Noor Kochi filed a case against 47 people.
A total of 11 accused have been sent to jail so far in connection with the case.
On Nov 10, three accused – identified as Badsha, Ashrafur Islam Mithu and Lutfur Rahman – in Sanaullah murder were taken on a three-day remand.
The same Boraigram Judicial Magistrate Court passed the order after police produced them before the court seeking five-day remand.
Boraigram police aided by Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested the accused from Manik Mia Avenue at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital on Nov 8.
The arrested were later brought to Boraigram from Dhaka.
