Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman has warned that anyone involved in corruption will face not only administrative measures but also legal action.
On his first official day at the Secretariat on Wednesday, the minister addressed ministry officials in an introductory meeting, cautioning them against corrupt practices.
Referring to claims of “corrupt judges and officials,” Asaduzzaman said: “Being a judge means being honest. Integrity is inherent to the word ‘judge’. If anyone engages in corruption, there will not only be administrative action, there will also be a corruption case.
“No one will escape by committing graft.”
He added that judges should embody honesty. “Those who feel their salary cannot support their household should consider private practice, which they can pursue after retirement. This is my common message.”
Speaking on corruption, he reiterated, “If anyone believes they can get away with corruption, they will not succeed here.”
Later, on his way to attend a cabinet meeting, he told bdnews24.com that meeting people’s aspirations now poses the greatest challenge for the government.
Dreams, he said, are never realised in a single step.
He also voiced firm resolve to carry forward the situation left by the interim government to a more advanced stage.
Asked about the Constitutional Reform Council not taking oath, he said the matter had been discussed at party level.
“What the party spokesperson has said is our position,” he added.
