Natore, Nov 8 (bdnews24.com) — A Natore court has granted the police three days to interrogate three persons for their alleged involvement in the murder case of Baraigram Upazila chairman Sanaullah Noor Babu.
Baraigram chief judicial magistrate Mahmudul Islam passed the order on Wednesday when Natore DB Police sub-inspector Abdul Hannan, also the investigation officer of the case, produced the three accused before it appealing for a five-day remand.
The arrestees are Ashraful Islam Mithu, 25, Mohammad Badsha, 28, and Lutfar Rahman, 31, of Mahishdanga village under Baraigram Upazila. The Detective Branch arrested them from the capital's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area on Monday evening.
The lawyer for the state told the court that the accused were detected from video footage of the incident and all of them were activists of Juba League, youth wing of the ruling Awami League.
The lawyers of the accused made three separate bail appeals on behalf of the accused, saying that they were not involved in the murder case. They claimed that they were not the persons seen on the photographs and video footage.
Their lawyers also claimed that the accused would be tortured severely in remand.
