The Non-Governmental Teachers Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) has recommended appointments for 11,713 candidates against more than 67,000 teaching and lecturer posts at non-government institutions under the monthly pay order (MPO) scheme, leaving more than 55,000 positions unfilled.
The results of the seventh, or special, recruitment process were published on Wednesday.
Mostaq Ahmed, assistant director of the NTRCA’s Pedagogy and Educational Standards Branch, told bdnews24.com that 18,399 people had applied in total.
“Out of them, 1,027 MPO-listed teachers have already been eliminated, as the Ministry of Education has instructed that those already working under MPO cannot apply for the same position,” he said.
“That left 17,372 valid candidates. Among them, 11,713 have received appointment recommendations.”
Despite the recruitment drive, 55,495 posts in private schools, colleges, madrasas and technical educational institutions have remained vacant.
Explaining the shortfall, the official said the positions could not be filled due to a lack of registered applicants in the relevant subjects.
“These posts remained vacant because there were no registered candidates or applicants for the same subject against those vacancies,” he said.
In a notification issued on Wednesday, the NTRCA said the results of the recommended candidates can be accessed through the service box titled “7th Appointment Recommendation Notice (Special)–2026” on its website, as well as through the Teletalk portal.
In a separate statement, the authority said 5,742 candidates were recommended for schools and colleges, 4,255 for madrasas and 354 for technical educational institutions.
Another 1,155 candidates were selected for general schools offering technical subjects, while 207 were recommended for madrasas offering technical subjects.
Candidates can view their results by logging in with their user ID and password. Heads of institutions can also access the information of selected candidates for their respective institutions using their own credentials.
Teletalk, which provided technical support for the recruitment process, said successful candidates have also been notified through SMS.
The NTRCA had issued the recruitment notice on Jan 6 for 29,571 posts in MPO-affiliated schools and colleges, 36,804 in madrasas and 833 in technical educational institutions under what it termed the “Seventh Recruitment Notification (Special)–2026”.
Applications were accepted from Jan 10 to Jan 17 from candidates holding valid teacher registration certificates for more than 67,000 teaching and lecturer positions.
Teacher registration certificates remain valid for three years from the date of publication of the registration exam results.
Only candidates under the age of 35 as of Jun 4, 2025, and with valid registration certificates were eligible to apply.
Police verification was conducted during the application process, as the NTRCA collected necessary information while forms were being submitted.
