Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called on young students to prepare themselves for the future through education, sports and cultural activities.
Speaking at the “Notun Kuri Sports 2026” programme at Sylhet Stadium on Saturday afternoon, he emphasised building a generation capable of leading Bangladesh in the years ahead.
Addressing the children present at the event as “guests of honour”, the prime minister did not deliver his scripted speech.
“You are the future of Bangladesh. From among you will emerge international-standard athletes, doctors, lawyers, engineers and future leaders,” he said.

Tarique encouraged students to pursue their interests alongside studies.
“Each of you must develop yourselves. Only then will Bangladesh move forward on a strong foundation,” he said, adding that the country’s future depends on how well the younger generation grows.
The event, organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, was held simultaneously across all 64 districts.
A documentary on the initiative was screened, followed by the launch of its theme song.

Students from Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan performed demonstrations in cricket, football, kabaddi, athletics, chess, badminton, swimming and martial arts at the stadium.
The premier later inaugurated the nationwide programme, and unveiled its trophy and logo.
The initiative builds on the “Notun Kuri” talent search programme of the 1980s, aiming to identify and nurture young sporting talent across the country.
