US-Bangla Airlines has entered its 13th year of operations, with plans to expand its fleet by another 21 aircraft by 2027.

The privately owned carrier said on Friday that it began operations on Jul 17, 2014 with Dash 8-Q400 aircraft on the Dhaka-Jashore route.

The airline now operates a fleet of 25 aircraft, comprising three Airbus A330-300s, 13 ATR 72-600s and nine Boeing 737-800s.

It currently flies from Dhaka to Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Sylhet, Saidpur and Rajshahi on domestic routes.

US-Bangla spread its wings internationally on May 15, 2016 by launching flights between Dhaka and Kathmandu, Nepal.

The airline now operates services to Kolkata, Chennai, Male, Muscat, Doha, Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah, Riyadh, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok and Guangzhou in China.

It aims to add 15 Boeing 737-8 aircraft and six Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft to its fleet by 2027.

It also plans to resume flights to Kathmandu later this year.

Focusing on demand from Bangladeshi expatriates, US-Bangla expects to launch flights by 2027 to Kuwait, Bahrain, Madinah, Dammam, Colombo, Johor Bahru, Penang and Hong Kong.

The airline also aims to begin services to London, Rome and other European destinations by 2028, followed by New York, Toronto and Sydney by 2030.

US-Bangla currently employs around 4,000 people at home and abroad.

It operates more than 40 sales offices in Bangladesh and overseas, and also runs its SkyStar frequent flyer programme.

Alongside passenger services, the airline also transports cargo on domestic and international routes.

Managing Director Md Abdullah Al Mamun said the airline was ready to meet growing competition and would continue adding modern aircraft to improve passenger services.

He added that expanding the fleet would help ensure greater comfort for travellers while supporting the coountry’s economic growth.
