BNP spokesperson Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told the press about lending moral support at the party chief Khaleda Zia's Gulshan office on Friday.
To a question from the press, he said the lawyers who support BNP had already been in Narayanganj to back the shutdown.
“Our lawyers will be there that day during the hartal as well.”
The BNP acting secretary general added, “Being the party of the people, the BNP has lent moral support to the hartal against enforced disappearances, abductions and killings.”
Narayanganj District Lawyers’ Association will enforce the dawn-to-dusk lockdown.
Meanwhile, Jamaat acting Secretary General Shafiqur Rahman in a media statement, issued on Friday night, also lent support to the shutdown.
“I’m expressing moral support for this strike on behalf of the Jamaat,” he said.
Bodies of six men, including senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar and city corporation councillor Nazrul Islam, abducted from Narayanganj on Apr 27, were recovered on Wednesday from the Shitalakhya River.
The body of another abductee was found on Thursday.
