In her wrap-up speech of the ongoing session of Parliament on Thursday, Hasina said her family had taken pains to provide good education to her children.

“That is the only thing we can give you, a good education”, she claimed to have told her children early in their lives.

Taking potshots at Khaleda’s children, Hasina said her children had not grown up to become “thieves and rogues.”

She said after graduating in computer science from Bangalore University in India, Joy had availed himself of a student loan to study in Harvard University.

“He got his degree from the very best institution in the world”, she said.

“They came back to the country and worked selflessly for the people, without misusing power or aspiring for anything in return”, she said.

Hasina’s salvo comes after Khaleda, miffed at the arrest of BNP-leaning editor Shafik Rehman over the conspiracy to abduct and kill Joy, had claimed that $300 million were stashed away in the name of Hasina’s son in a foreign bank.

Joy in response to the allegation had dared Khaleda on his Facebook wall to expose the money claiming he would donate it all to orphans if she could establish her charges.

Zia’s elder son Tarique Rahman is facing trial for his alleged involvement in the Aug 21 grenade attack case. Her other son late Arafat Rahman Coco was sentenced for his involvement in money laundering.

The BNP, however, claims that the cases against Khaleda’s sons are a result of political witch-hunting.

Hasina also dwelt on various other allegations against Khaleda’s sons during the BNP regime.
