“Executing the verdicts is a matter of time now as the legal procedures have ended,” he said at a human-chain programme on Thursday.
The top appeals court has rejected Salauddin Quader and Mujahid’s review petitions to commute their death sentences, clearing all legal hurdles to hang them.
They can only seek mercy from the president. Once the matter is resolved, the government will carry out the death sentences.
“A 46-year old wound will heal through their executions,” Minister Qamrul said.
