BNP’s US unit demonstrates outside UN headquarters during summit joined by PM Hasina

BNP leaders and activists in the US have demonstrated outside the UN headquarters in New York when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was attending the UN General Assembly.

She spoke at the SDG summit on Sunday.

She also took part in a meeting of the global leaders on gender equality and women’s empowerment.

When the prime minister entered the UN headquarters, the expatriate BNP leaders and activists gathered outside it with banners and festoons.

Their demands included midterm election and ‘freedom of speech’ in Bangladesh.

BNP leaders Abdul Latif Samrat, Delwar Hossain, and Mostafa Kamal Pasha Babul, among others, spoke at the gathering.

They said they were planning to demonstrate also outside a hotel where Hasina is scheduled to attend a reception by expatriates later in the day.

They demonstrated outside the airport when the prime minister arrived in New York last Thursday to join the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit 2015.
