He visited doctors at Brookdale University Hospital on Thursday and saw doctors at Long Island hospital on Friday.

The BNP acting secretary general went to Singapore on July 27 but doctors there suggested him to go to the US.

Fakhrul went to New York on Wednesday.

“He saw neurologists at Brookdale University Hospital as suggested by Singapore doctors,” party’s Deputy Publicity Secretary Syed Emran Saleh Prince, accompanying him, told bdnews24.com over phone on Friday.

Neurologists have examined him and are reviewing his medical reports from Singapore, Prince added.

Fakhrul has an appointment with Cornell hospital’s neurologists on Monday, he said.

“He will decide on surgery after that,” the deputy publicity secretary added.

Fakhrul told bdnews24.com that the ailment was identified last year when he was at the Kashimpur jail.

He was arrested on Jan 6 from the National Press Club and was later implicated in several cases of violence.

The Supreme Court granted him bail on July 14 on medical grounds.

Prince said, “Two blockages have been identified in his internal carotid artery near his neck. The spot is very sensitive.

“He has requested everyone to pray for his recovery.”
