The Awami League general secretary also prayed for his speedy recovery, the party’s deputy publicity secretary Ashim Kumar Ukil told bdnews24.com.

The railways minister was taken to Singapore at dawn on Saturday. He is suffering from ulcer, diabetes and high blood pressure and is being treated at the National University Hospital.

Hoque fell ill at his residence in Comilla on Thursday. The senior politician was bleeding internally from his stomach ulcer and was taken to Moon Hospital.

The hospital’s Director Rois Abdur Rob said Hoque was given blood infusion to make up for the loss.

He was moved to Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka that very night and was flown to Singapore after a day’s stay there.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also asked Bangladeshis to pray for Hoque on Saturday and said the minister had fallen ill to ensure hassle-free passage of Eid holidaymakers.

Hoque has been accompanied by his wife Hanufa Akhter Rikta and his personal secretary Kibria Majumder.
