Inu making irrational remarks to safeguard ministerial berth: BNP

BNP leader Asaduzzaman Ripon has claimed that Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu has been making ‘irrational’ remarks against Khaleda Zia to safeguard his ministerial berth.

On Friday, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JaSaD) President Inu labelled Khaleda Zia as a ‘firebrand terrorist’ and said she would end up at the Kashimpur prison.
 
Referring to the remarks, Ripon said on Saturday, “He became a member of parliament and minister as a result of a voter-less election. We don’t know when he has become a judge”

“We know, the judges of High court and lower courts try (the cases). But since when the petty party leaders like Inu have become the judge?” he said.
 
“This has raised a doubt whether he is writing the verdicts of the trials secretly.”

Inu had earlier told Parliament that Khaleda Zia would not get the chance to participate in the next election.

Reacting to Inu’s comment, Ripon recalled the role of JaSaD following the country’s independence.

The person who was now blaming Khaleza Zia was himself the prime architect of the politics of bombing and murder in Bangladesh, he said.

“People like Inu have first started obstructing democratic politics in Bangladesh.”

He said the then Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s government had tried to cling onto power by establishing one-party rule due to the ‘plunder committed by Ganabahini of people like Inu.’

Ripon claimed Inu was spared the death penalty thanks to BNP founder Ziaur Rahman.

“(Inu) would have to walk the gallows much before if Ziaur Rahman hadn’t shown generosity.”

Ripon said the JaSaD president’s comment was ‘complicating’ the present political situation.

“People like Inu are making such comments so that the election is not held and they get ministerial post from prime minister as an award of gratitude,” he said.
