He was released from Kashimpur Prison-2 in Gazipur around 1:30pm on Friday, Jailer Nasir Ahmed told bdnews24.com.
The High Court granted him bail in two cases on May 6 but his release was stuck because of an appeal by the state.
The chamber judge on May 19 upheld the High Court’s bail order.
The jail authorities released him after checking the court document.
The BNP leader was arrested from a house at Banani DOHS in Dhaka on Jan 8 amidst political tension.
He was shown arrested in two cases over clashes during BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s appearance before a court in December last year.
BNP spokesperson Asaduzzaman Ripon on May 17 told a media conference that arrested leaders of the party, including Chowdhury and Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, were ‘in a critical state’.
He demanded their immediate release on humanitarian gounds.
