The Awami League Advisory Council member commented after paying homage to the Liberation War martyrs on Thursday.

He said, “She (Khaleda) is not the leader of the opposition party. She had neither gone to show respect to the war heroes, nor did she go to pay homage to the language martyrs on Feb 21.

“She didn’t withdraw the blockade movement on this glorious day of Independence. The nation will try her,” said Tofail.

On the 44th anniversary of independence, President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, among others, have visited the National Memorial early morning on Thursday to pay homage to the language martyrs.

Later, the speaker, leader of the opposition party, MPs and diplomats have paid respect to the martyrs with flower wreaths.

However, Khaleda did not visit the National Memorial unlike on previous occasions when she would visit the grave of her late husband Ziaur Rahman at Chandrima Udyan after visiting the National Memorial.

BNP’s Standing Committee members Mahbubur Rahman and Abdul Moyen along with other members have visited the National Memorial with flower wreaths in the morning.
