Supporters of Lalkhanbazar Juba League leader Didarul Alam Masum scuffled with followers of former councillor of Khulshi ward Mohammad Hossain at Khulshi’s Ambagan on Thursday afternoon.

The situation calmed down at the intervention of city unit General Secretary AJM Nasir and other leaders.

Awami League’s city unit Publications Secretary Shafiqul Islam Faruk said their Khulshi unit had organised the rally as part of their pre-announced programme.

“It attracted a huge crowd. There were arrangements for 1,500 people to sit. There was a little tussle over the sitting arrangements,” he claimed. “But we finished the programme without any further unpleasant incident.”

Khulshi Police Station’s OC Mainul Islam Bhuiyan claimed no-one was injured in the skirmish.
