He has urged BNP chief Khaleda Zia to end the ongoing violent blockade.
At a programme on Friday, Suranjit said Khaleda must end her agitation before the SSC examinations started on Feb 2.
“Otherwise, the government will be forced to take alternative measures to protect the future of 1.5 million students," he warned.
"The government’s patience too has its limit,” he remarked.
The BNP-led alliance has been enforcing a crippling blockade across Bangladesh since Jan 5 to press for a snap election under a 'neutral' government ignoring calls by the businesses.
It has been trading charges with the government over the violence that has left several dozen people dead.
Khaleda has been named a suspect for 'ordering violence' in cases filed by the police.
On Friday, the BNP-led alliance announced a 72-hour countrywide shutdown from Sunday.
