In his immediate reaction, ruling party leader Hasan Mahmud on Monday night told reporters, "We hoped Khaleda Zia will apologise to the people and call the blockade off."
But she announced “killing of more people by hurling petrol bomb like in the horror movies", he said referring to the violence and casualties that took place since Jan 5 during the blockade.
The BNP chief at a press briefing in the evening announced continuing the transport blockade until her demand for snap election under a nonpartisan administration was met.
