"Tarique (Rahman) is the head of 'Kulangars' (disgraceful people) in Bangladesh politics. He had engaged the youth of the country in corruption during the Four-Party alliance regime through his 'Hawa Bhaban' office.

“He is responsible for crushing the youth's mortality and fighting spirit," he told a media briefing on Tuesday.

On Sunday, speaking at an event in London, Tarique, BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s elder son, said the Awami League was a party of 'disgraceful people' and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was the 'disgraced leader of a disgraceful group'.

The BNP senior vice-chairman, who has been living in London since 2008, claimed that Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu and Menon, as well as Col Abu Taher, were present when Khandaker Moshtaque Ahmed was being sworn in as president after Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s assassination.

On this note, Menon, the civil aviation minister, said: "I was busy saving myself during Moshtaque's oath-taking. I came to know of that in the radio."

He said that Tarique was 'desperate to revive the politics of killing and conspiracy'.

"Usually, I do not take Tarique Rahman's statement seriously. I have been saying for long that he is behaving like an imbecile in politics," said Menon.
