“Sheikh Hasina yesterday (Saturday) told a programme that BNP is a terror group and Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman are killers,” Fakhrul told reporters at Naya Paltan party headquarters on Sunday.

“The whole nation knows that she let police and RAB to terminate more than 500 leaders and activists who were pursuing a democratic movement from November to January. 65 people are still missing.”

Fakhrul alleged that Hasina was leading a “murderous gang.”

Chief of the ruling Awami League while speaking at the launching of a photo book ‘BNP-Jamaat Mayhem: Blood-stained Bangladesh’, had urged the people to be aware of the BNP and its ally Jamaat-e-Islami’s attempt to resume chaos.

More than 50 male and female victims of the violence that had been witnessed in the run-up to the 10th general elections in January were present on dais.

Fakhrul said the government and the law keepers after killing people had been squandering state’s money by holding programmes at Osmani Memorial Auditorium.

“We wanted to hold an event for the families of those who have been missing. But the government thwarted it.”

He reiterated the demand for early elections and said: “If Awami League is so popular then why aren’t they agreeing to hold fresh elections?

“Go to election and see who the people favour?”
