Public administration ministry’s State Minister Ismat Ara Sadique called on Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jitendra Singh and hailed Indian government’s decision to pass the bill.
Government sources said the two ministers discussed several issues pertaining to Indo-Bangladesh relations.
“She (Sadique) hailed the Narendra Modi government’s initiative to finalise Land Boundary Agreement with Bangladesh which would enable exchange of enclaves by the two countries,” one of the sources said.
Singh referred to traditional ties between India and Bangladesh and said that it was a matter of great satisfaction that, in recent times, the bilateral relations had grown further at all levels.
“And today India is also making a huge contribution by way of offering training to Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) officers.”
Singh said as a part of this initiative, over 500 BCS and 40 Bangladesh Police officers had already undergone training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration at Mussoorie and other places.
India has set a target of training 1,500 BCS officers over three years.
The training of Bangladesh officers in the Indian academies, Singh said, helped in sharing healthy inputs on good governance.
It also helped Bangladesh administrators and civil servants to develop a positive mindset towards India and its people.
“In addition, 40 police officers from Bangladesh have also received training so far and 35 Bangladeshi scientists have successfully finished a course in civil nuclear sector in India,” the Indian minister said.
India has also offered courses to Bangladesh officials in other departments and institutions like customs, railway, Election Commission and fire service.
