Altered duties on common products

The new budget presented by Finance Minister AMA Muhith has proposed new duties on a number of common products, including fruits, vegetables, toiletries and clothing.

Under the new budget, duties will pile on foodstuff such as powdered milk, vegetables, butter and dairy products, fruits, and chocolate, gas and fuel oil, and types of clothing and some electronic products.

Duties have been lowered on such products as natural gas, tissues and napkins, cut diamonds, refrigerators, freezers and machine parts, which are likely to lower their prices.
