The allocation was Tk 2.19 billion in the current 2014-2015 FY.

The decision was made on Wednesday at a commission meeting with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Leader of the Opposition Raushon Ershad, Finance Minister AMA Muhith and Law Minister Anisul Huq, among others, attended.

Speaking to the media, the speaker said the current year’s allocation was higher because of the construction of the Data Centre.

“We don’t need that much money in the next fiscal. Therefore, we have sought less allocation,” said the speaker.

The commission proposed allocation of Tk 1.97 billion for non-development sector and Tk 66.5 million for development projects.

The commission’s allocation is used to pay the salaries of the employees of Parliament and meet other expenditure.
