Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Syed Mashfiqul Islam on Sunday ordered Delwar Hossain to jail in a case filed by KDS Group.

Group official Shimul Sen, on behalf of its chairman Shamim Iqbal, sued him on Dec 2013 for embezzlement of Tk 4,443,720.

Delwar’s bail plea was turned down.

Plaintiff’s lawyer Rananga Bikash Chowdhury told bdnews24 that the magistrate sent him to jail after he had surrendered to the court.

He said Hossain did not pay the money after buying products from KDS Group on credit.

Defence lawyer Ibrahim Hossain Chowdhury said they would appeal for settlement of the case on giving a check for the money.

At least 112 people, mostly workers, died and more than 200 were injured in a fire at Tazreen Fashions at Ashulia in Dhaka’s Savar on Nov 24, 2012.

A court in Dhaka had sent him to jail on Feb 9 in a case over the incident.

He was freed on Aug 5 following a bail granted by the High Court.
