Tangail-based RAB-12 Company Commander Mahiuddin Faruki said a tip-off on a militant hideout at a village near the district town prompted the raid on Saturday.
He said bullets were fired from the house owned by one Azhar Munshi at Kagmara Village in the Sadar Upazila when the RAB posse approached.
"The RAB personnel retaliated and the two unidentified men were killed in the encounter," said Faruki.
The elite force recovered 10 machetes, a pistol, a revolver, five bullets, two laptops, two mobile phones and cash from the house.
The bomb disposal unit was also called in but no bomb was found in the house, Khan said.
