The ruling lawmaker’s son Bakhtiyar Alam Rony is now in jail over the killings early on Apr 14.
Auto-rickshaw driver Yakub Ali and rickshaw-puller Abdul Hakim were killed in a random firing from the black SUV around 1:45am that day, according to police.
Rony is said to have fired on them while ‘on drugs’.
Detective Branch arrested Rony and the vehicle’s driver Imran Fakir on May 31 for their suspected involvement in the killings.
The investigating officer said Rony admitted to firing the shots from his licensed gun during primary investigation.
Driver Fakir said in his statement to the court that Rony opened fire from inside the black SUV which was confiscated by police on Monday.
