He was replying to a question about Bangladesh’s “image crisis” abroad at a brief press conference after the closing of young entrepreneurs’ training in Dhaka on Saturday.
The ambassador said he did not see any negative campaign against Bangladesh and that his personal goal was to highlight the positive stories of the country.
He made the comment after the White House announced his successor in Dhaka.
Mozena, however, did not speak anything about the announcement or the new appointment.
He said he had always encouraged Bangladeshis in America to tell about their country.
“I have a rich perspective,” he said, referring to his service in Dhaka twice, almost 15 years apart.
He presented his credential to the Bangladesh President on Nov 24, 2011.
The US embassy spokesperson said his tenure would end when his “successor is confirmed and ready to arrive in Bangladesh”.
Mozena had previously served in Bangladesh as political/economic counsellor from 1998-2001.
As ambassador, he had toured many districts in his effort to visit all the districts of Bangladesh in a bid to take America to the people as well as to better understand the diversity of Bangladesh.
The ambassador said he had seen “so much in this country, so I have that perspective and I’ll tell the story”.
“It’s incredibly positive story,” he said, adding he would keep coming back to Bangladesh.
He said he would lead a Bangladeshi young entrepreneurs group to the US in June.
They would be taken to the Wall Street and all major media houses in the US where they would be able to speak about Bangladesh.
“I encourage Bangladeshis (in America) to tell the story,” he said.
Earlier speaking at the closing ceremony, the ambassador said Bangladesh could become a mighty player in the global IT world.
