The former municipality mayor from Faridpur’s Nagarkanda was found guilty of ten among the eleven charges against him. Sentenced to death in six charges, he was awarded various jail terms for the rest adding up to 40 years.
“The verdict didn’t deliver justice. He was not involved in crimes against humanity. None of the charges against him are true,” said Abdus Sukur Khan on Thursday.
The lawyer said he has been representing Khokon in court but have not received any assistance from his family.
“The court’s verdict would have been different if his family helped and witnesses I listed showed up to court.”
Elected municipality mayor of Nagarkanda in 2011, Khokon Razakar has been in hiding since the investigation into his war crime started in 2012.
Khokon, who was affiliated with the Jamaat-e-Islami before the war, joined BNP after it was founded by Ziaur Rahman.
Law enforcers are clueless about where he is hiding but Bangladeshis living in Sweden said the man was with his elder son and daughter there.
