Sunamganj, June 24 (BDNEWS) – Tengratila gas field, being developed by Canadian Niko Resources under a joint venture with state-run BAPEX, experienced another blowout early Friday, officials concerned said.
No casualty or injury was reported. However, people were advised to move to a safer place.
The officials said the explosion occurred at about 3:45am during a bid of diversion drilling to kill the old well where a blowout had taken place on January 7.
"No major fire was reported from the relief well, but the fire engulfed the adjacent areas as gas was leaking out from a number of cracks developed during the January explosion," said an official.
He informed that the relief rig was not damaged in the explosion.
The technicians were trying to bring the fire under control by increasing the density of mud.
Mahmudur Rahman, the newly appointed Energy Advisor, was monitoring the situation.
BAPEX managing director was on way to the spot.
