The court of Dhaka’s Third Special Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar framed charges against the ruling party lawmaker on Tuesday and set Oct 6 for recording witnesses’ testimonies.

A government investigation last year revealed that the Cox’s Bazar-4 MP controls the principal point of trans-border entry of the contraband drug yaba.

The report by the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) said that Badi controls the route and many others work under him in the illegal drug trade.

On Aug 21, 2014, the ACC filed a case against Badi accusing him of concealing assets.

It said that the Awami League lawmaker has provided false information in his affidavits submitted to the Election Commission in 2008 and 2013 as well as hidden information on his personal wealth worth Tk 108.68 million.

Badi, who is on bail and appeared before the court on Tuesday, pleaded not guilty.

He had been in jail for three weeks last year after being arrested in the case, but later secured bail from the High Court and was released on Oct 30.
