A Dhaka court has rejected the bail plea of Awami League MP Pinu Khan’s son Bakhtiar Alam Rony over a case of killing two people in Dhaka.

General Recording Officer Mahmudur Rahman said on Tuesday the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Haq rejected the bail plea.
After a four-day remand on Saturday, Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Nur sent Rony to jail.
The magistrate fixed Jun 16 to hear the plea when an appeal was filed on that day.
Bakhtiar Alam Rony had been accused of shooting dead an auto-rickshaw driver Yakub Ali and rickshaw-puller Abdul Hakim near the capital’s New Eskaton area early on Apr 14.
The injured were taken to the hospital where they died during treatment.
Two days after the incident the victim, Abdul Hakim’s family filed a case citing that random firing from a white microbus had killed the two.
Police, after investigation said that the vehicle involved was actually a black SUV that had Pinu Khan’s son Rony along with some other people inside.
Following the investigation reports, police arrested Rony and his driver Imran Fakir on may 31.
The investigation officers said that after primary interrogation the accused had confessed to the shooting.
The driver, Abdul Hakim gave his statement citing that on that night Rony opened fired from inside the SUV.
Meanwhile, the vehicle has been confiscated from the garage of Pinu Khan’s apartment on Sunday.
