The rice-laden truck met with the accident at Chanmari on Monday on the way to the Food Corporation of India (FCI) warehouse at Nandannagar near Agartala, police Inspector Subrata Chakraborty said.
It had entered India through the Akhaura integrated check post in Tripura.
The truck's driver Md Sumon Mia sustained head injuries and was admitted to Gobinda Ballab Pant Medical College and Hospital, Chakraborty said.
Doctors said Sumon's condition was stable, he added.
The police official said no case was filed over the incident.
The accident occurred when the driver lost control after a tyre burst at a sharp curve and the vehicle overturned.
There were no other casualties.
For the first time 5,000 tonnes of rice in small ships from Kakinada port in Andhra Pradesh reached the Ashuganj river port via Kolkata port on Aug 5.
From Ashuganj port -- 37 km from Agartala -- Bangladeshi trucks have been carrying the rice directly to FCI warehouse at Nandannagar which is around 7 km from the ICP.
