Chhanda Gayen from West Bengal's Howrah district, Pusi Das of Kolkata's Dum Dum Park, and Monideepa Dutta from West Bengal's Murshidabad district have all reached the Mt Everest, The Times of India reported.
Kunga Bhutia of Darjeeling was the first woman from Bengal to set foot on the peak of Everest in 1994. Major (retired) Shipra Majumdar of Murshidabad followed in 2004.
A message from the base camp at Solo Khumbu in Nepal said the three women began the assault on Friday night.
They followed the South East Ridge and reached the summit at the crack of dawn where they planted the Indian flag.
"I feel like the proudest mother in the world. My daughter harboured a childhood dream to climb Everest and I thank god that she has achieved it today," said Chhanda Gayen's mother Jaya Gayen.
She had last spoken to Chhanda around 4pm last Saturday. "She asked me not to worry. She was full of confidence that she would scale the peak," Jaya said.
The three women had begun their climb on May 1 along with three Sherpas. They made for the base camp at Solo Khumbu after trekking via Namche Bazar and Thayangbooche.
Chhanda and her teammates undertook the climb on their own.
Her brother Jyotirmoy said she overcame several financial hurdles to arrange funds for the expedition. Chhanda's family mortgaged their jewellery for a loan.
Jaya said Chhanda developed an interest in mountaineering ever since she was an NCC cadet.
Her love for trekking turned into a passion for mountaineering. She trained at a city-based mountaineering club and undertook courses at Darjeeling's Himalayan Mountaineering Institute.
Between 2007 and 2012, Chhanda scaled the Jogin I and III peaks in the Garhwal Himalayas, Maniram and Mount Sluped in Himachal Pradesh and Gongotri I.
Besides, she took an LIC loan, said Jyotirmoy. Family funds apart, the state government gave Rs 5 lakh fro the expedition. "I am not sure about the other sources of funds for the expedition," he said.
