Dhaka, July 30 (BDNEWS) – Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia Sunday asked the leaders and workers of Panchagarh and Jhenidah districts to extend their combined efforts for the four-party alliance candidates in the next parliament election.
Khaleda, also the chairperson of BNP, said this while holding meeting with the grassroots leaders of the districts at the state guest house Jamuna as part of the party programme to boost up the workers aiming to win the next election.
The grassroots leaders, however, told the PM that the countrywide severe load shedding, price hike of essentials would bring negative impact on the polls result.
The district leaders also requested the PM to be careful while selecting the candidates in the parliament election.
Khaleda hold meetings with the zila and upazila level leaders of two constituencies of Panchagarh and four constituencies Jhenidah.
Of the six seats, BNP grabbed five in the election.
Out of five, four MPs, excepting Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircar MP of Panchagarh-1 did not join the meeting.
According to meeting sources, the grassroots leaders informed the PM about the intra-party conflicts and blamed the local MPs in this connection.
None of the district leaders, however, made any comments to the press.
According to sources, son of former law minister late Mirza Golam Hafiz would be one of the vital candidates for the Panchagarh-1 seat. But the followers of the speaker Jamir Uddin Sircar opposes former law minister's son.

He requested the PM to be careful.
Later, LGRD and cooperative minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan told the press that Awami League made a tie with Ershad earlier.
