Rubbish heap outside parliament building

More than a hundred makeshift stalls are set up daily on the pavement of Manik Mia Avenue along the boundary of the parliament compound. Waste from these food stalls, selling snacks such as fuchka and chotpoti, is dumped right on the spot. Left to rot, they spread a foul smell that makes the area unpleasant for pedestrians and visitors.

Mobile vendors dump their waste along the pavement of Manik Mia Avenue. After rain, the rubbish rots faster, creating an even stronger stench and serving as a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Photo: Abdullah Al Momin
