The government has taken an initiative to provide nutritious meals for students in government primary schools. To ensure the quality of these meals, at least three mothers will be included in the monitoring committee of every school, said State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj.
He made the remarks as the chief guest at the “Nil Komol Award” ceremony organised by Bangladesh Girl Guides Association at the Guide Auditorium on Bailey Road in Dhaka.
Highlighting the initiative to provide nutritious food for students, the state minister said: “The government is arranging for nutritious meals to be provided in every school.”
He also announced the decision to include at least three mothers in each school’s monitoring committee to ensure the quality and nutritional value of the food.
At least 57 “Holode Pakhi” (primary school students aged 6 to 10) from six selected regions, chosen through competitions across 10 regions nationwide, were awarded the “Nil Komol Award” medal, crest, and certificates for their achievements at the event.
Congratulating all the students present, Hajjaj said: “Today, I am not among just our daughters or Holde Pakhi; I am among the future leaders of Bangladesh.”
Recalling the more than 100-year history of the Girl Guides and their important contributions over time, he said: “There is a great need for their philosophy, ideology, and activities. The new government is working so that our students can reach leadership positions not only in Bangladesh but across the world.”
He also said that changes are being introduced in the curriculum so that students can learn civic responsibility, morality, and leadership skills from an early age. “They will not even need to join the Girl Guides; they will learn these things directly from the curriculum,” he added.
The state minister further mentioned that topics related to cleanliness and civic responsibility would also be included in the curriculum.
He said students would be taught to develop habits of keeping their clothes, schools, and surrounding environment clean.
