Remittance inflows to Bangladesh continue their strong upward trajectory, crossing the $30 billion milestone within just over 10 months of the ongoing fiscal year.

In the first six days of May alone, expatriates sent home $752 million, up 20.32 percent compared with the same period last year.

Altogether, from Jul 1, 2025, to May 6, 2026, expatriates remitted $30.08 billion, nearly matching the entire inflow of the previous fiscal year.

For comparison, total remittance in FY2024-25 stood at $30.33 billion, while the first 10 months and six days of that year recorded $25.16 billion.

Bangladesh Bank Executive Director and spokesperson Arief Hossain Khan shared the updated figures on Thursday.

If the current trend continues for the remaining 55 days of the fiscal year, total inflows could reach as high as $35 billion, setting a new record.

In April alone, expatriates sent $3.13 billion, a 13.62 percent increase year-on-year. The country has now seen over $3 billion in remittances for five consecutive months.

With banks currently offering Tk 123 per dollar, the first six days of May have brought in about Tk 92.5 billion, averaging $125.3 million per day.

At this pace, May’s total inflow could reach $3.88 billion, potentially making it the highest monthly remittance in Bangladesh’s history.

The previous monthly record was set in March, when $3.75 billion was sent home.
