Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan has soared up in the T20I batters’ rankings following his half-century against the United Arab Emirates (UAE), while Litton Das and Jaker Ali also made progress.
On Wednesday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) published the weekly rankings for men’s T20I, in which Bangladesh pacers Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan and Shoriful Islam made headway as well.
Tanzid failed to make a mark in the first T20I against the UAE, scoring only 10. He, however, made a quickfire 59 in an aggressive display in the second game, though Bangladesh ended up losing the game by two wickets.
Tanzid laced his 33-ball knock with eight boundaries and three sixes on Monday, which catapulted the 24-year-old opener 27 spots and into the top 100 T20I batters' list, at 98th.
Parvez Hossain, who opened for the Tigers in the first game, blasted his first international century in the format by smashing 9 sixes, a record for Bangladesh, and five fours. But he did not make it into the top 100 batters’ list.
Jaker Ali, who scored 13 and 18 in the first two games, moved up six spots to 82nd, while skipper Litton, who made 11 and 40, edged up a place to 49th. Towhid Hridoy also improved by one place and entered 29th in the batsmen’s list.
UAE captain Muhammad Waseem made a match-winning 82 off 42 with 9 boundaries and five sixes in the second game, propelling his team to a maiden T20 win against the Tigers. He scored 54 off 39 balls in the first game as well and climbed eight spots to 19th.
Aussie batsman Travis Head is at the top of the batsmen’s ranking while New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy leads the list of bowlers.
Of the Bangladeshi bowlers, Mustafizur, Tanzim and Shoriful have moved up by a spot. Mustafizur stood 25th after taking 2 wickets for only 17 runs in the first game. Tanzim grabbed three wickets in the two matches to be on 40th, while Shoriful is in 76th spot after claiming two scalps.
India’s Hardik Pandya is at the summit of the T20I allrounders’ rankings.
